THE HILLSIDES OF MONTGUEUX: AN EXCEPTIONAL LOCATION<\/h2>\n[\/az_column_text][az_column_text el_class=”our-story-description”]The grapevines of the Maison Leroy Meirhaeghe winery are rooted in the stunning hillsides of Montgueux. Facing south-southwest, our vines enjoy maximum sunshine, enabling the grapes to become engorged with natural sugars. The subsoil on Montgueux is designated as \u201cC\u00f4te de Champagne\u201d, and is made up of limestone formed millions of years ago. Although this limestone is the predominant mineral presence, traces of red clay and flint are also found in the soil. Our vines take root in this soil and draw their strength from it, enabling various grape varieties to express their full range of aromatic palates. The Montgueux vineyard is mostly made up of chardonnay grapevines.<\/p>\n

Our village of Montgueux, which since 1927 has been the historic heart of the C\u00f4te de Troyes area of the Champagne region, offers much more than champagne: walkers and hikers can enjoy remarkable landscapes overlooking the town of Troyes and the nearby Pays d\u2019Othe. From our vineyards there is an unspoiled view of our hamlet, La Grange au Rez, once nicknamed \u201cLa Folie\u201d. Sitting just below the vineyards, our little corner of the world changes with the seasons under the watchful eye of the grapevines.<\/p>\n

The hillsides of Montgueux proudly overlook the town of Troyes, in the Aube area of the Champagne region. A superbly picturesque town with a medieval centre, just 10km from the Leroy Meirhaeghe winery, Troyes captivates visitors with its rich heritage, architecture and history. The city centre, shaped like a champagne cork, is the perfect place for a stroll. In the west of the town, the C\u00f4te de Troyes hillsides also have plenty in store for those who wish to wander along them: with forests, farms and vineyards, the wealth of scenery here is truly a sight to behold.[\/az_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row section_mode=”full-screen” no_content_wrap=”yes” bg_mode=”custom_image_bg_parallax” image_parallax=”770″ el_class=”parallax-bloc”][vc_column][az_column_text]\n
